Idler Arms

Idler Arms seems to be a "Big" issue with these vans. I've read that the stock idler arms are good for around 40k miles. Sometimes I'm wondering if replacing idler arms is just "The Thing To Do" on these vans. Question: How can I tell if my idler arms need replacing? What are the symptoms? How can I...

Re: What is the least aggressive shift kit?

I have a B&M electronic shift kit that I took off my 97 Astro before I sold it. The wires need to be attached to the ECU. I now have a 2002 Safari with Tow/Haul mode so I no longer need the B&M device.

Re: Gas Tank Romoval

I called the dealer who said that I needed a Fuel Rail Disconnect tool, so I went to Schucks and $8.65 later I had the tool in my hand.

Gas Tank Romoval

My fuel pump failed at 113,000 miles. I have the tank unbolted and on the ground. I am trying to figure out how to disconnect the plastic hoses from the fuel pump and the metal fuel lines. Once I get them off, I can then remove the tank from under the Safari. How do I remove the hoses as they are no...

Re: Tips on Changing Spark Plugs & Wires

Harbor Freight has "Wobblie" extensions for much cheaper than Sears. I've found using the "Wobblie" extension makes pulling all 6 plugs easy. I'm needing to change the plugs on my Safari. It has 110k miles on it. Not sure if the plugs, cap, rotor, and wires have ever been changed. It's an AWD with 3...

Removing headrest on newer Astro LT and Safari SLT

Removing headrest on newer Astro LT and Safari SLT . The headrest will move up around 3 notches but will not remove, which is possibly a safety factor. The pivot for the arm rest came unwelded. I needed to remove the upholstery for welding, but the headrest was stopping the progress. I undid the cl...

Re: driver window won't go up!!!

Does anyone know if there is a "thermal" overload shutoff on these power windows? Mine makes no odd sounds when it goes down. It starts back up for a short trip then stops - it won't go either direction with only a click of the solenoid but no motor movement. Then a couple minutes later it will make...

Re: soundproofing and insulation

Give http://www.b-quiet.com/ a look.

I've never used the product but may as I would like to have my Safari SLT as quiet as possible for those long trips.
