Re: Swapping from the NP136 to the BW4472 (need feedback ple

I have owned both transfer cases and much prefer the 4472. You aren't waiting for some rear wheel slip before it engages like the 136. I got no better mileage having the 136. It also has a MUCH higher failure rate. I say switch to the 4472 and never look back...except to see all the 4x4 trucks stuck...

Re: Herbie's Astrolander/ZMB build thread

Very nice setup. It is never easy trying to cram all the needed stuff into such a small space. We find with our camper we are always looking at what we use/don't use to make needed room in compartments. Always a compromise it seems.

Just double check to see if the fittings in the radiator are tight. They are just threaded in.

Re: electical --fuel pump

Pull the doghouse and put a fuel pressure tester on the Schrader valve. You should see 52-60 psi with the key cycled on. If it's less than 50 psi, the van won't start.

Ambitious swap! You have all the right parts though. Can't wait to see the finished van!

Re: My first Chevy

Look in the transmission section for a stickied topic on trans coolers. My recommendation is a Tru-cool low pressure drop.

Nice job on the rear lift!

How are you doing the front 4x4? The subframes are totally different. Maybe you can source an AWD subframe from the yard.

Re: Crazy deal on brakes

Seems like a pretty good deal. I would imagine they are made cheap with cheap iron but they would have to be better than what you have now! :muhaha: Be sure to torque the lug nuts to keep them from warping and you should get many miles out of them.

Re: My first Chevy

That trans cooler will work. Might be a little light if you tow heavy a lot. I wouldn't mount it with the plastic ties that go through the a/c condenser. I would fab up some brackets. For tune-up parts, we really have to recommend going with factory AC Delco at least as far as cap, rotor, plugs and ...

Re: Front Differential...What did it eat?

That's not such a bad thing. swap the rear gears into the van. They are a direct swap. The rear axle housing won't work but the carrier and ring/pinion will.

Re: Cruise Control Inop

The cruise control on the 98 is electronic. There is the multi-function switch as well as the module itself mounted to the firewall. If the fuse is good and the switch on the brake pedal checks out, I suppose the multi-function switch could be bad.
