Fuel Guage acting funny

I have a 2004 Astro. Recently the fuel gauge has been dancing around. Up, down, up again. Hard to know how much gas is really in there. It doesn't move alot. I'd say about 3 to 4 "lines" on the guage. One time it will be at half a tank and then next time I turn the van on it would be down to a littl...

Believe it or not it's a class III. Factory install. Do I need a higher rated carrying hitch?

Hitch load question

My hitch is rated at 200/2000 weight carrying and 750/6000 weight distributing. I tow a trailer with no weight distributing hitch and my trailer is 290/2700. The question is ... am I exceeding the hitch capacity? :-k

FYI, 200/2000 means 200lbs tongue weight/2000lbs trailer weight.

Thanks BLAZER. But do air bags or Timbrens increase the GAWR as well? I have a problem where I need to install a single bar weight distribution hitch to level out the weight of my trailer on the axles. The problem is I can't do that for reasons that are irrelavent on this topic. So what I would like...

Adding spring leafs to rear axle

This may be a dumb question .... would adding a spring leaf on each side of the rear axle/suspension increase the load carrying capacity? For example the rear GAWR of my astro is 3100lbs. Would adding the spings increase this?

Transmission Oil

Looking into changing my tranny fluid on my 2003 Astro. First ... How much fluid does it require? Second ... since I have a mid-sized tranny cooler, how much more fluid needs to be added? And third ... since I tow a pop-up trailer, what kind of tranny fluid should I use? I heard that a synthetic flu...

drilling holes on hitch

I was told that drilling holes on the hitch cross tube is not good. I was going to attach a trailer connector to the cross tube by drilling but a friend told me not to. Will 2 small holes really damage the hitch?

I was asking around some shops for a quote on getting my tranny cooler installed for me. What kind of prices and time should I be looking at? I figure it won't take more than 1.5 Hrs. Anybody know how long the installation should take?

Transmission Cooler

I have a 2003 Chevy Astro equiped with the HD trailering package. Does this include a transmission cooler? I can visually see through the front grill something that looks like another radiator in front of the standard radiator. How do I know if this is a transmission cooler or engine oil cooler? Tha...

OK. I see the wiring diagram posted, Now what about the light green wire? Back-up lights? Is that not used? Also does anybody know how to run the wires from the inside Jack Housing to the outside and under the van? I want to install a car end trailer plug beside the hitch but not sure how to bring t...

How well can my van tow?

Hello. I have a 2003 Astro with factory tow package (WD platform hitch and 3.73 rear axle ratio). Just purchased a pop-up trailer with GVWR of 3400lbs. How well can my van tow this? Anybody else towing similar load? Also when towing do I need to tow in 3rd gear even if the tow/haul mode is activated?

Installing new deck in 2003 astro

Hello all. New to Forum. Need help on installing after market deck in my van. Future Shop guy told me I couldn't install a new deck without first purchasing a special unit because the factory deck was special because it controls stuff like air bags and door chimes. Is this true? Never heard of somet...
