Electric Fan Temperature Probe. Looking for available 3/8" NPT Port?

The controller on my electric fans is malfunctioning and I am about to replace it. The replacement control unit I have on hand has a temperature probe that is a 3/8" NPT brass probe. The instructions say: "The temperature probe must be inserted into a 3/8" NPT port on the engine or ra...

Re: Please Verify that Soft 8 Style Steel Wheels Fit On An '

OK. I found a thread on the other forum that gave me the info I needed.

2003 and up vans have larger brakes that need the 16" wheels that they came with, which makes a lot of sense.

Please Verify that Soft 8 Style Steel Wheels Fit On An '04

Hi All, I have been reading and digging and keeping my eyes peeled. Of course people are running 15's, I had a set on my '93. And I recently saw a guy running 30x9.5 r 15's on steel wheels on a '99 I think. But then recently tried to fit up a set of 16" tahoe wheels that would not fit over my r...

Re: Stubborn OLV Lift Shackle to Body Bolts.

Just in case it ever happens to somebody in the future and they end up searching for advice... Tried a perfectly cut hardwood block clamped in place,a well placed pry bar, and socket some more, bending car body before bolt backs out. I tried heating the bolt up, got it red hot and smoking, was proba...

Re: Stubborn OLV Lift Shackle to Body Bolts.

Got the drivers side out after what seemed like hours of wrenching and prying. Then I felt stupid for starting this thread. Then I went back to the passenger side, and after what was actually hours, I am back. Sprayed with penetrating oil, let sit overnight. Long pry bar lined up for a good straight...

Stubborn OLV Lift Shackle to Body Bolts.

Hi All, Trying to remove OLV lift shackles. Upper bolts are stuck in shackles. Springs are off, nuts are off the bolts, shackle and bolt combo rattles in the mounting holes in the body, but the upper bolts through body and shackle do not budge as if they are fused into the shackles. With a socket an...

Hey Captn. Thanks for responding so quickly. You do not need to apologize. I say, "When the berry is ripe, it will fall in to your hand." Your suggestion is super helpful!!! That gives me the best of both worlds, a solution for right now and a sure path to low-range when we collectively ca...

Wiring the NP236

I have been searching around and reading all day, (needed something to do while recovering from the flu) and I did not come across useful info on the wiring part of a NP236 install, which by all accounts is the hard part. Am I missing something, or has nobody yet had the time/inclination to write it...

Re: Can a OLV 2" Lift contribute to X-fer case binding?

Yeah the fluid is blue and the mechanic who put it in said there was a bulletin on some sort of additive that was $35 a pint or something like that. I'm exaggerating, but I think the fluid is right. So I removed the front drive shaft on my 2004 awd astro, and the van doesn't roll and feels like it's...

Can a OLV 2" Lift contribute to X-fer case binding?

Hi folks, 2004 Chevy Astro AWD, 2" OLV lift, little bit of T-Bar crank, otherwise stock To make a short story long: Had transfer case replace a couple months ago with a reman unit. This was a long and painful process involving a non-existent warranty, an unscrupulous dealer, and 3 different rep...

Causes of or cures for harsh, jittery ride quality?

Re: AstroMath 3.42 + 31"= ?

Hi, So now we're getting somewhere. Thanks Astrozam for posting the link to the gear ratio chart. Wish I had found that earlier. That web site makes the whole gearing issue pretty easy to understand. The chart posted above (and conventional wisdom) would indicate that if, for example, I wanted to pu...

Howdy,

I also wanted to add that the info provided by 97CargoCrawler was great. The photos with the tire size comparison are a great reference. Thanks!

Re: AstroMath 3.42 + 31"= ?

Hi, So that's two who say 3.42's and big tires work and two who say no way. Any tie breakers out there? :swords: But I think we can all agree that with anything bigger than 235 75/15 tires a gear swap is a good idea, even if not necessary, in most cases, in regards to these particular vehicles, unde...
