Re: Parasitic Draw - locating.

OK, thanks Joe. I wanted to make sure about which cable was connected to the draw so I decided to go out and disconnect the heavy red cable going from the positive battery post to the fuse/relay block and that removed the draw! Now that I knew it had to be somehow connected to that fuse block I went...

Tracking down precise source of draw

(This is a followup post from my previous one - hoping more people see it and will chime in.) 2004 Chevy Astro 100K 4.3L -I have a parasitic draw of .3A/300mA. I’ve tested all fuses and relays and none are drawing voltage. I then disconnected the alternator by removing the positive lead from the bat...

Re: Parasitic Draw - locating.

Thanks so much for answering most of my questions! The wrench icon doesn't have any options that you describe. In my user control panel my default option "Notify me upon replies by default:" was already turned on but I'm still not getting notifications. I the button just to see if anything...

Re: Parasitic Draw - locating.

Sorry, Joe - I think because you moved my post I wasn't receiving notifications. Anyhow, yes, you're correct - I wrote that number incorrectly - it was 300 milliamps (0.3A / 300mA). I'm a total electrical idiot. ;-) Since it's very labor-intensive to remove the alternator to disconnect it from there...

Parasitic Draw - locating.

(Didn't see a forum section on Electrical, so I hope posting this here is OK.) 2004 Chevy Astro 100K 4.3L -I have a parasitic draw of .300mA. -tested every fuse under hood and driver’s side fuse blocks and they’re all zero. Is there a third fuse block somewhere else? If not, is there any other metho...

Body Part Gap Filler?

I had an issue where I needed to remove a rear light mount. This is the plastic or composite part that fits into the panel through which the light fixtures are threaded and to which the actual light fixture itelf is mounted with 2 screws. It was steel-pop-riveted in and had some kind of white filler...

Re: How to search on 2 words?

I wondered the same thing, especially since the sister site (astrosafari.com, of course) does have the ability to search a phrase rather than individual words. Having this ability not only eliminates time scrolling through dozens of incorrect, incomplete results but could ultimately cut down on the ...

Notifications Not Working For Me

I’ve checked the "Notify me when a reply is posted" button on each of my posts and so far I have yet to be notified, either by pop-ups or email. If this feature works on this forum could somebody kindly walk me through the correct process? I would much prefer email notifications. I’ve look...

Re: Quality, experience with billet aluminum distributor?

Wiley Thanks for helping me out again! That’s the one. Seems like SWP doesn’t have their database updated or maybe detailed enough to include that dist. in their choices. Didn’t think to search “gm distributor” which then did bring up that result. Maybe I’ll send them an email to help them (and othe...

Re: Quality, experience with billet aluminum distributor?

Alright, 1. Yes, that is the dizzy you want, if the van is "new to you" a full tuneup, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, air and fuel filters, PCV valve, clean screen on the EGR all are a good thing to do. I always pop a new distributor for good measure. Change all the fluids as well, a radiat...

Re: Quality, experience with billet aluminum distributor?

I have no experience with any aside from what is sold at the local auto parts store, but for after market Skip White distributors have a good reputation on this and the other Astro forum, so I would take a look at one of those as well. Thx. Checked them out and it looks like they don’t sell the pan...

AstroSafari Owners Upper/Mid-Cape Cod? (Massachusetts, USA)

I’d really like to connect with anyone else nearby. As you can see by my signature I’m on my 3rd and learning more with each one but I could use some help at times and would certainly lend a hand when needed. More details at my intro post here: http://astrosafarivans.org/bb2/viewtopic.php?f=20&t...

Quality, experience with billet aluminum distributor?

Astro’s at the shop now - some things I’m just not capable of doing (replacing fuel feed line, maybe both, from tank to engine). There is a (small) possibility that a new fuel filter will solve my issues (that’s how the rotted line finally broke, when I tried to do a change), but just in case I’m he...

NEW MEMBER - CAPE COD (local owner help?)

Greetings! I’ve been on this forum since 2013 but never posted - just a lurker searching for answers. As you can see from my signature lines I’m a third-time AstroSafari owner. Coming down from two Dodge B250’s in construction my needs changed and I wanted the largest van smaller than a fullsize I c...
