Yes, you can most certainly change the slip yoke if necessary

Re: AWD 2000 motor mounts

EXCELLENT!!! I am very grateful for this write-up! I also have a 2000 AWD with over 220K miles and bad mounts. I bought NAPA mounts, but haven't been able to muster up the motivation to put them in! I crawled under and attempted to get a look at the job. I asked myself how can you work on something ...

Re: Recommendations for 2-3" Lift? - 92 Astro AWD EXT

Front "body lift" does not affect the front subframe, drive-train, and suspension.. it only raises the body up from the subframe. Stock front shocks are unaffected since they are only mounted to the subframe and not the body. No change. 2" of rear lift is not that much... and "ma...

Re: S10 front axle swap

This would give me the freedom to use 2low in situations like maneuvering a trailer or even pulling the trailer up a couple of steep mountain passes that are typically below 30 mph... Yes.. this could certainly be one use for this application.. where you'd want to use the low range on pavement (whe...

Re: S10 front axle swap (bad idea)

On further thought, releasing the front axle is a bad idea with this transfer case. This will result in clutches always wanting to slip past each other as the font end will not be turning and the rear will. I have spent time contemplating the same thing.. and came to the same conclusion. Unless &qu...

Re: long crank when cold, hard start

I swapped the crankshaft sensor thinking that was the problem, and it was only okay for a week or so. I checked fuel pressure and it was good and held pressure as well.. It's interesting that the crankshaft sensor "cured the problem for a week a so".. then the problem came back? Normally ...

Re: Heavy duty radiator for '95+

I don't want aluminum - I'm after brass (or, better yet, naval bronze if available) for compatibility with the Vortec 4300's iron block and heads! Compatibility? LOL! The radiator is better off being compatible with the coolant flowing though it. This one did give me a good chuckle though. :yawinkl...

Re: Transmission filter change and fluid flush

This flush idea is excellent!!! It allows the transmission to flush the fluid "naturally"... using it's own pump, to pump out the old fluid exactly as it pumps fluid when it's running normally. There is no shock or danger to the system, just freshly infused fluid! But I think I have a much...

Re: 'Gifted to me" - a front diff

If I understand it correctly, the other axle should rotate twice as fast with the one axle locked; so to find the ratio, I divide the free axle turns count in half , and then compare to the input revolutions, for the ratio. Have I got that correct? Yes, you have this essentially correct. This metho...

Re: bucking when cold

Bucking at "part throttle" while cruising, (especially when you have over 150K miles) is typically a worn distributor. It happened to me. Sorry I didn't see this post in 2014, to post my reply! Glad you found the problem!
