Re: OBD2 code P0303...Misfire on cyl 3
Take a look through these articles: http://troubleshootmyvehicle.com/gm/4.3L-5.0L-5.7L/index-of-articles-1 It's a job changing plugs and wires. With the codes you posted you may have more problems than just plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Do a bunch of research before taking off on the project. I just ...

Since most of us are here to save money and enjoy (don't mind) working on our vans, having a ready wealth of diagnostic ideas and how-to's available is a must. I've found this site worthy for ideas.

Went for a longer drive today, the miss started again with a P0300 so have more work to do. At least it isn't making a mess all over my concrete driveway.

Re: 95 Astro Intake gasket replacement info and pics
I took the bate and proceeded with the repair. Since I'v not working and presently don't need to have the van running, I did the repair in "puttering" mode. The actual work wasn't that hard. Cleanup took probably as much time as tear down/re-install. Before I started the process the van ha...

Re: S10 Blazer rear disc brakes to an Astro rear axle
Some years back I believe it was SoCal V8 tried rear disc brakes. His results were unsatisfactory as he couldn't get the front and rear to properly equalize and work as a team.
Please note that 2003 thru 2005 did have rear disc brakes. They also had 16" wheels.

Re: Coolant Leak - Intermittent - 2002 4.3L Safari
My 2002 Safari is doing the same thing. It appears to be an intake manifold gasket issue. I put a radiator pressure tester on it, pumped to 15 lb, in a couple minutes it dropped to 14 lb. Looked under the van and saw nothing. Pumped back to 15 lb and started to see a couple drips. I put the van on r...

I found this excellent extensive how to: http://www.handymanlyness.com/archives/auto/repair/engine_mech/intake_manifold/GM_truck/gasket_replace_99_Jimmy.html It's for a Jimmy, but the process is the same other than sheet metal ...

Re: GF Performance Chip Kit
I probably will not bite. I do keep continuous records of fuel/service usage via a spreadsheet. I just finished a 6 week driving stint from Sacramento to LA which gives 400 miles each way plus driving in the area. I put on over 6000 miles in that period. Gas ate me alive. I planned some $350 per wee...

GF Performance Chip Kit
http://www.gfchips.com/gmcsafari.aspx
Has anyone tried one? For $69 seems to be a reasonable cost. They say nothing about needing higher octane fuel so I would expect 87 would be fine.
The company is in southern LA area, Irvine, CA.

Re: 'Service engine' light came on and started to shift hard
Check you separator plate. I would expect you will find some wear where the balls hit the separator plate. I had the P1870 on a 97 Astro. I replaced the separator plate and did a shift correction kit. After doing the job myself and seeing the success when finished I would do it again. Were I to have...

Has anyone ever seen this conversion book?

I would wonder at the conversion price he's stating.

Shelby Sports Cars is now into the act:

1k HP and 2.5 0 - 60 makes other powered vehicles look rather sick.
For many of us, EV's look our of our price range. But then again so did my Safari a few years ago.
