Re: Brake line and fitting sizes

Almost all 1/4"? Interesting. Funny how thing vary, I replace most of the lines on my 99 AWD when I did the engine swap, and it had 3/16" to both front wheels, and the right front line was around 12' long. I've never worked on anything newer than a 1999, and I know GM did make some changes in 2000 (...

Re: New Owner of Overland Vans

Welcome G! I have a suggestion for you, add V8 swap items to your site. That is the only thing that is missing, other than the 'in the works' solid axle swap kits. I am doing a 5"-7" (we'll see where it comes out) lift on my Safari now, using a slightly different method, and I lifted the engine (TPI...

Lesson 4 A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field. While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was. The dung w...

Lesson 2: A priest offered a Nun a lift. She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to reveal a leg. The priest nearly had an accident. After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg. The nun said, 'Father, remember Psalm 129?' The priest removed his hand But, changing gear...

Lesson 1: A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower, when the doorbell rings. The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next-door neighbour. Before she says a word, Bob says, 'I'll give you $800 to...

Re: Benefits to buying a car with high mileage, 100k, 150k, etc.

Only benefit is they can be purchased cheaply, and if they die, you can scrap it and get most of your money back. I do this a lot, and get a couple of years out of $1000 to $1500 vans and cars. I also buy additional ones when I see a deal for parts, or to use when my current one dies. This is only a...

Re: 97 4.3L w engine rebuild problems

On a v8 I would put the engine at TDC on #1, spin the primer for a few minutes, and then turn the engine one complete turn (#5 should be at TDC then), and spin it again. This is great with the rocker covers off, since you can see where you do and don't have oil. I'm not sure on a v6, I'd consider tu...

Re: Another new project

I don't remember what van used it, but there is a van with a 90 degree adapter that turns the booster sideways. That may help.

I agree on assessing it further, lol.

Re: Another new project

An AWD Astro sub frame and a ratio matching heavier rear would be a great idea...prolly would be at least close to wide enough. Since it has a clutch pedal, I'd consider using a stick of some kind, 4 or 5 speed, it would be great behind the 355. It would't be bad to do, compared to building a space ...

Re: Another new project

I love it! This will be a good reason for me to invite myself over to see it...Maybe I can help with the drivetrain swap, I'm getting half way good at it. The harness won't be bad if the van is getting scrapped. Is it an auto or stick now? The brakes will be a hassle, but that's prolly the worst of ...

Last time this came up the question was asked if it would be complete with a valve cover mounted cup holder...thinking it was so long that it would be way into the van. I can't wait to see it.

Re: Just some misc pictures of Astros

My injectors, they are 24#/hr Ford, Ouch! Don't you know it's a sacrilege putting F*@d parts in an Astro or Safari? :poke: :poke: LOL! Parts is parts...just like chicken nuggets. The exception might be rack and pinion steering. \:D/ Agreed, now figure out what to mount it to on an AWD, there is no ...
