Re: 97 astro, noisy fuel pump...

Well... finally had a chance to change the fuel pump.
I think it was the problem... the van started fine, and
kept running idle for almost an hour, no noise from the new pump
and it didn't die...
Still have to take it for a test run, maybe this weekend...
Thanks to all for your help...

Re: 97 astro, noisy fuel pump...

Changed the IAC valve today... same thing, started fine up to 1800 rpm, then idled at 900-1000 rpm, ran for a couple of minutes. Turned the engine off and started it again, it idled low... around 700 rpm. Went to auto zone, bought a fuel pressure tester, throttle body cleaner and did some cleaning o...

Re: 97 astro, noisy fuel pump...

This van was in perfect working condition when I stored it... I've had it since 2001, wouldn't like to let it go... Man this is getting on my nerve. :-k

Re: 97 astro, noisy fuel pump...

Well, I checked and removed the IAC valve, cleaned it, worked great for a couple of tries... Took the van out for a test, started stalling again. now it's worse, as soon as i come to a stop it just quits... Still no codes... This is annoying...

Re: 97 astro, noisy fuel pump...

Well, changed the fuel filter today... it was very dirty but the problem continues. When the van is idling it just suddenly dies. Fuel pump keeps working. A couple of times it started but idle was around 2500 rpm, and i hit the gas pedal and it didn't go lower, I've also noticed idle is a bit low, a...

Re: 97 astro, noisy fuel pump...

Well i did use the van for a couple of days... I have put gas 2 times already... The problem persists. I am planning on changing the filter and posibly drain most of the gas so when i put the new theres less chance of the gas being bad. Thanks, Lifted...

97 astro, noisy fuel pump...

Hi... I just started using my astro after a year and a half stored. I had kept starting it and moved it back and forth in the garage where it was stored. I'm having some problems when passing other vehicles on the highway and when I stop it sometimes stumbles and dies... I had some codes on the scan...

No power on the fuse box for windows and Ac...

Hi guys, Having an issue with the 87... The terminals on the fuse box where the AC and PW connect are dead... I made a temporary/permanent fix by connecting a jumper from the non switched 12v spare terminal... I was told the problem could be a "fusible link"... If so, where is it located??...

Re: your ideas on best all around rear axle gears

The table above is supposed to be for a "1:1 transmission ratio going about 65mph.", The 700r-4 has a fourth gear that's .70:1 s... That's pretty close to the .73:1 5th gear on the T-5. So i guess it would be better to run 3.42's or fit 31"s under the van... ??? I'm quite thankfull f...

Re: your ideas on best all around rear axle gears

I have an 87 shorty with a 4 inch lift, 235-75-15's and I'm planning on 3.73 with a Gov-Loc... I know I need to get a set of 28 spline axles... The question is, Is the 3.73 too high a gear??? I'm not sure but the one the van has now is a 3.28 I think...

Re: Converting 99 astro to 6 lugs...

Well, I know there are some fine wheels that fit the 5 lug pattern, but I was trying to get a set of SS or Denali 20" OEM... Because the factory chrome is so much tougher than the aftermarket ones... Thanks, I guess I'll have to try the wheel Adapters and do some math with the Backspacin/Offset...
