Re: R.I.P. T.Low you will be missed

I have not been on the site much the last few years. Just busy with life in general. I met Tom a few times at some meetups we had here in Vancouver. Truly a top notch guy if there ever was one. I'm very sorry to hear of his passing he will be greatly missed.

Rest in Peace Tom

Re: Passenger door, BOTH handles broken. How open?

you should be able to drill the heads off the bolts on the outside door handle. then pull it out and grab the rod and pull up to open the door.

Re: Can I remove AWD front driveshaft - 96GMC Safari

Also I believe you wouldn't have park if you pull one drive shaft as it will allow the transfer case to turn allowing the van to roll away as if it was left in neutral.

Sorry I haven't been on here much lately but that happened to me a few years ago. I burnt the same wire while doing a alternator swap. Glad you got it fixed.

Re: 1987 Astro Shutdown problem

I would check the spark control unit in the distributor. They can get a bit finicky and will cut out and in. If your driving and the engine slowly stumbles and dies that is usually fuel but if it just cuts suddenly and instantly then it is electrical.

Re: Looking for a new van.

Sorry to hear about your van that sucks. Sadly they are getting to the age where they just are not worth much on paper. What are you looking for to replace it so people can post up if they see anything you might like?

Re: Checking if a wheel hub/bearing is bad?

If there is any doubt replace the bearings and the old race as well a race pounding tool and all the bearings will set you back about $60. Compared to having a tire come off its cheap insurance. Plus then you have a cool new tool to use in the future for the next time you need to do them. Personally...

If you think this site is slow I also registered for a bmw motorcycle forum. Posts there can be measured by using continental drift. Unless you want to talk about radar detectors and aftermarket lights. But even that is dead.

Re: Astro van and their owner's retirements..kinda quiet

It is slowing down but don't forget they haven't made a Astro in a decade now. I find that my 99 is so reliable that I don't have that many questions so now the board for me is more about keeping up with the people. P.s. The other board was owned by a guy who lost interest in it and became so unstab...

Look in the exterior section of the forum I did a step by step write up on this years ago and it is pinned at the top of the section.

Good luck :)

Re: 2000 Astro Sluggish / No Power and Hard Shifting

I would try cleaning the maf sensor if it is dirty and not reading the right amount of air going in that can cause it to bog like your saying. Have you run a code reader on it? The other suggestion I was going to make was the cat did you get them all replaced? If you only did one you could always tr...

Re: Thinking about buying a Duramax dually

Don't forget that when it comes time to buy tires that dually will set you back another 5-800 depending on the type of tires. Really most half tons now days will tow nearly anything you want in the way of a travel trailer or utility trailer. Plus the mileage is better than on a one ton.

Try going on the www.dualsportbc.com forum as well. They have a lot of members and there is usually a ride going somewhere most weekends I know they have great board with subsections for different areas of the province. You could probably find help and or tools on there as well.

Re: Misfiring / cross firing

Try new leads as well if the resistance is too high from bad leads it can cause all sorts of weird problems. Have you checked the timing with a gun? If you can't adjust the timing enough it is possible that the Dist was put in one tooth out of place.
