Re: 383 L31 V8 Ole Yellar build

High volume...........it's more important to have lots of oil than to have lots of pressure. It's always been my understanding that small block Chevys don't need anything more than 50 psi. this is highly dependant on bearing clearance. race motors run a lot looser and the theory is that the oil for...

There are however undisputable facts No disrespect meant, But when someone starts off like this (see above). I tend to turn a deaf ear. So, I won't even try to dispute yer facts. Jim PS If you wanted to discuss the points you made though, I would be more than willing. There is not point discussing ...

Re: Big Three Upgrade

I am confused. Where you replacing the alternator? You can just double up the output wire from the alternator to the battery. AD 244 alternator bolts right in and comes in 150 and 200 amps.

Re: 700R4 temp monitoring

Not sure how Lifted AWD clarified anything, more of opinion and anecdotal information. There are however undisputable facts; 1) manual and common sense say tow and heavy load in 3rd gear. my newer van has a button on the end of the gear selector that is pushed for towing. downshifts and apparently b...

Re: 700R4 temp monitoring

There is a little bit of misinformation in the video. Transmission fluid does not burn up the transmission, the transmission burns up the fluid. Fluid is damaged when it comes in contact with very hot metal, this occurs when clutch plates spin on metal plates (steels). The usual cause of slippage is...

Re: 700R4 temp monitoring

"too cool" only affects seal performance. reaction times in clutch packs and accumulators would be slower, rather like running 90w in your engine. I have been told that in extreme cold in the far north of Canada they use ethylene glycol in transmissions, rather than hydraulic fluid. curren...

Re: bracket for rocker cladding .. help!!

I modified my whole cladding, took it off, cleaned it up, surprising amount of metal concern. glued it on with epoxy resin. my painter said it would crack and fall off but it has not to date. made some plastic repairs and some reinforcing underneath with polyurethane resin and glass, which he said w...

Re: 700R4 temp monitoring

I assume that at 230 degrees I would stop towing a load to let it cool down or change my driving it hard antics. At this temperature it may have already burnt the fluid. I would at least know what was happening to attempt a cure before it got worse. If you are getting 230 degrees returning to the t...

Re: 700R4 temp monitoring

Brokenwrench I am just curious as to why you believe that monitoring the fluid temperature from the cooler(s) back to the transmission is the best location. It seems to me that this location will inform you as to how well the cooler(s) are functioning. The transmission could be sending out 300 degr...

Re: Leaf Springs Cost How Much?

My cost was $126 each. Made in the USA, nicest I have seen, vehicle rides like a chariot. Axle wrap gone. Now I know what you guys mean about difficult bolts. Had to slit the front spring eyes, torch out the bolts. Incidently, over the counter 9/16 bolts fit better than factory 14 mm and cost me $1....

I just bought a pair of North American (USA) made springs today for a customer. They are 4 leaf HD springs. What are people here paying for springs", these are the nicest I have seen.

***UPDATE*** Paid a visit to the podiatrist on 1 Dec. All kinds of new and exciting news (?!) was given to me. Surgery won't happen until the edema subsides. No telling how long that may take. Surgery can be done locally at VA expense. We've two very good hospitals here in town and all Billings sur...

when that rotates past the pickup coil it induces an electrical field which is the signal to the ingition control module to collapse the field in the coil. advance is controlled electronically unless you have a 1985 -1986.
