Re: Upgrading electrical questions.

I don't think I've seen anything reasonably priced that would include any sort of predictive discharge read out for a car battery. You could go with or adapt something like this to be able to monitor what's going on in real time: http://www.iequus.com/Product/Detail/9D1F54B4-F1D3-4C67-827E-91FE755F3...

Re: Upgrading electrical questions.

And on the topic of safety- Don't forget to provide venting to any battery being used within the passenger cabin to prevent the build up of hydrogen gases found with traditional car batteries, unless you're using gel cells or sealed type batteries. And, yes, use an inline fuse as close to the main b...

I know I'm replying to a year old thread, but this seem as good a place as any to post this. I'd recently replaced my factory head unit with a after-market Kenwood, because I wanted Sirius satellite radio and Bluetooth integration for my road trips. Along with those two things built into the head un...

Yeah, I was in on a different computer and didn't see them up there, so I logged in to post and forgot to look again before posting.

Steering wheel remote

Just curious; was there ever a steering wheel for an late model Astro/Safari that included remote buttons for the stereo? If not any ideas as to what other GMC/Chevy model might have a wheel that will fit the Astro/Safari that would have these buttons? I have an aftermarket deck installed and can ei...

Re: Occasional Sputtering

Still a few misses but nowhere near what it was on regular. One new MAP sensor, coming up! Is there a tutorial around on changing this out? It's probably dead simple, but I'd rather know what I'm getting into ahead of time.

Re: Occasional Sputtering

Now here's something interesting. I accidentally put in supreme unleaded as opposed to the regular unleaded gas that I usually use and haven't noticed the sputtering I mentioned in my original post. It's been running really smooth. I drive a hundred and some odd miles round trip to work everyday. I'...

One of my codes is P0108. I think that was a MAP sensor or something.

Re: Mounts for Rear speakers in a Cargo

Because of the potential for road and operating noise, particularly in a cargo van, I wouldn't expect much from those speakers in that box. It's too small to develop any significant low end to add to the front speakers. Unless you're spending any time yourself in the back (camping, etc.), I would th...

Re: Occasional Sputtering

The filter is new enough that I wouldn't expect that to be the cause. Having said that I have never cleaned my mass airflow sensor. I'm not even sure what it is, where it is or how to clean it! I do know that what ever it is, I have never cleaned it! Would they have touched when I had it tuned up re...

Occasional Sputtering

New topic? Probably not. But here goes. 98 GMC Safari, AWD. When I gently accelerate, at the point when it's about to shift, it sputters and feels like it's missing. It also does this when cruising around 70mph. I can put my foot into it and it will push through, but at that point where your just ke...

Re: Fuel Pump - Fuel Sender Assembly - Replacement Procedure

Really great write up! I wish I had the time and place to do this myself. I just lost my fuel pump at 201,000 miles. I just got back from a long road trip and was on my way to work in another state when barely out of the driveway, it quit. Got it back into the drive way. My little tip: I don't know ...

Re: Looking to replace headlights. Need some suggestions

Nothing like dredging up a six month old topic! Thought you guys might like another option for headlights. With a great recommendation from a friend, I just replaced both high and low beams with HID conversion kits for $95.00 USD from these guys: https://www.ddmtuning.com/ Wow! What a difference! I ...
