Re: Back in Hospital Again

Actually, no phantom pain at all and no mourning period, either. The orthopaedist I saw was top-notch. We have two great hospitals here in Billings, one of which is associated with the Mayo Clinic and the other one is part of the St. Vincent's health care network. The CNA in the ER, on the other han...

Re: Back in Hospital Again

Saw the X-Rays the other day. There is about 1" left of a bone that is approximately 3" long. Foot still looks weird.

Re: Back in Hospital Again

The GRAND unveiling happened today. The orthopaedist removed the pinky toe and part of the metatarsal. Foot looks a bit weird with only 4 toes. With any luck, I'm outta here Monday..

Back in Hospital Again

Went to my podiatrist on Friday, 5 December. He took one look at my foot and told me to report immediately to the ER. Of course, this is never a good thing. I got into the ER and spent about 5 hours waiting patiently, all the while crashing. My blood sugar levels plummeted to 46. Normal is in the 90...

Re: Cruise Control Inop

Sadly, with feet that are falling apart (literally) and arthritic knees, CC comes in very handy. I've even had to learn how to brake using the left foot.

Cruise Control Inop

With all the vacuum lines in place and intact, I still don't have cruise control. Is it possible that the problem may lie in the Multi-Function switch?

Batteries don't go bad, do they? They're supposed to last forever, right?

Re: Drivers Side Dutch Door

All kinds of crud builds up in the back doors of any vehicle, especially GM vehicles. I had to replace a reversing lamp on the 93 Burb and was amazed at how much gunk was inside the fender. For the future, however, I'll be replacing both with Anzo LED assemblies AFTER I pay off the loan. I won't sin...

Re: Safari GT question

Radio Shack has SUPERVELCRO that is used to hold speaker covers in place. There are four strips per package.

Re: New Beast of Burden

Now to find a name for her. I'm leaning toward Flosshilde or Woglinde (Rhine maidens).

New Beast of Burden

Well, new to me, anyway. As many of you know, I am physically handicapped and require crutches and the use of a power scooter. Unfortunately, the company that installed the lift mechanism on the back of the Stro was less than worthless. The ONLY time that they surveyed and saw the van was the day th...

Re: Tires for the Safari

I have Cooper LT tires; I second the LT vs P tires. P(assenger) tires wear out much too soon.

I use Rancho 5000 shocks on all four corners, but with the power scooter lift on the back, the van squats. Sadly, the additional weight is also tearing apart the rear of the van (not the rear end).

Re: Oxygen Sensors

I don't think it would hurt to run a few cans of Sea Foam through the system, but I don't think that's going to cure the O2 sensors. After 186K miles, they're bound to be tired. I'll check out the local shop class when school is back in session. But $1200 is a bit much to charge, considering that br...
