Re: Tank Drop

Put the van up as high as you can. I've done this twice in the past month, my '05 astro first. And now my new to me '93 in the middle of it waiting for a new tank. Siphon out what you can, if you have a transmission jack it will make life much easier. I have 4, 6 ton stands right at the top. Let the...

Crawl under when you shut it off, nothing I know of in that area but the fuel pump.

Re: 100,000 checkup

Like Joe said, maintain. Use the right fluids. The transfer case can be picky. Flush the cooling system, use whatever antifreeze you like but don't mix n' match. I like the green but astro came with dexfool. DON"'T mix anything with this but new dexcool. I don't care if the bottle says "un...

Re: Wiper goin haywire

Have you looked at the control board Dobie? much easier to get to and has been the fix for 2 astro I've had.
I've pulled the fuse many times in my '93, bumps, fast stops, even the wife after taco bell will set them off. Today the switch sit on a shelf in my shop. I'll get to it! LOL

Re: Weatherstripping for the BIG side windows?

an auto body & glass shop might be able to help you. https://weatherstripdepot.com/collections/chevrolet-g20-gmc-g2500-van-weatherstripping Or an RV dealer, someone that sells mobile homes and trailers. Those type windows were installed by a conversion company when the van was new and the inter...

Re: 1987 Chevy G20 in baby blue

Me too, my '05 has a similar wheel but the clear coat is long gone and I have little ambition to polish them.
The van looks good, I've always liked the swing doors on the side rather than the sliders, they hold up much better long term. Amazing to see an old conversion in such good shape.

Re: Wiper goin haywire

Lol, yeah. AIW, I got that on my '93. Arbitrary, Intermittent Wipers! I've had this issue in an '02 and a '97 as well. First place to look is the wiper motor control board. Pop the cover, IIRC there are 3, #25 or 7 torx screws holding it. Near where the wiring plugs in at the bottom I found cold sol...

Re: no forward gears

Hi CMW, I moved this thread to the right section for you. No, I don't believe you want to re-program anything. If you had a solenoid fall off of it's own accord I would be looking for other mechanical and or electrical issues. Bad grounds or broken wires would be what I look for first. Find a factor...
