Re: Is it just me, or is this happening to a lot of vans lat
Call me crazy, but thankfully nobody was hurt and aside for the money. What a great story!! Look at the lengths you are going to to save her... Its a classic underdog story, you'll be telling the tale for years to come with pic's to prove it. I can't wait to see how your van turns out. Best wishes. ...

Clouseau..at your service.
Two and a half years and I've parked in the street twice. Funny story...I go out to my van this morning and shit someone side swiped me, what the hell. I look for signs, but nothing. So I call the police, then my insurance co and were talking. "She says, did you look to see if any of your neigh...

In a Jamb? New trick for dealing with torssion keys.
I've pulled my keys three times now and without the special $140.00 tool and bending the crap out of two C-clamps. This method puts me at ease and makes the chore a bit safer I believe. In a jamb I sacrificed a bottle jack. The screw jack is not only cut to a point but at a sort of 45 deg. angle to ...

Re: Another lifted Safari!!
Thanks guys. I must admit shes growing on me and my neighbors. Took a little getting used to, but I can see it now. I put the plastic back over the front bumper and was like no way! It needs a custom bumper and then a swing out tire carrier. Next on my list anyhow. Well, I just put 40 miles on the n...

You know you love your Astrofari when your buddy asks you to go surfing and you tell him, well...actually I have a few things to do. Just to run home and put a few finishing touches on your last project. Or you spend $200.00 on bench top, dog bed seat covers and your daughter says "Cool dad, Ma...

Re: Another lifted Safari!!
Thanks and I did stray from the original tire I wanted, but these tires don't feel any different than the stockers on the freeway and suppose to wear and handle the lift better than the BFG AT's. As you can see I removed the running boards and cladding. So I just need to hit the junk yards and get t...

Another lifted Safari!! continued.
I know some of you are curious, so I wanted to make sure you got the whole picture and by the way it's 35 3/4" from ground to top of the wheel well in rear and 35 1/4" at front actually looks a little higher in front or at least level. Rides good too, need to do something about shackle bus...

Another lifted Safari!!
I was going to wait until she was complete, but ran into an issue that I need to run by you guys. The big question in a lot of our minds was/is CV joints and boots with re-indexed keys installed. First of all I drove her to get an alignment Monday and couldn't really tell that I had done any work on...

Re: Wheels and tire's look huge. What up?
I'll have all the info or at least lift, front and rear, tire, wheel size that I used and finally alignment and drive ability by mid next week. Will be installed this weekend with new torsion keys and maybe a turn or two on bolts.(?) I won't be able to have it aligned til Monday-Tuesday. My friends ...

Re: Wheels and tire's look huge. What up?
Geezz, you guys are good! Yeah, I know. I got online a hundred times playing with that tire calculator. I don't think it's the height, they look super wide. Their actually flush with the top, outer part of the fender flare which seems right, the vans just taper way back into the rocker area and tire...

Wheels and tire's look huge. What up?
Shizer, Hey guys, I might have a problem. I have 4 new wheels and tires in my garage that look huge. They are 255/70/16's on a 16 x 8" wheel with an offset that is supposed to fit the van. The decision was based on the size of tires on T-Lows van. My lift isn't complete because OLV sent me the ...

Re: Overland Lifts ???
Hey Loopie, Yeah, new spring pacs from OVL. I figured they may settle down a bit. Somewhere here in this site I was told to definitely install the new shackles. Something to do with the fact that they move or have movement. The truck rides real nice, makes a little noise at real slow speeds over bum...

Re: Overland Lifts ???
Timeless, Just read a thread over at astrosafari.com. This guy snapped a torsion bar over in Ireland and the members were nice enough to see him through his ordeal. One posted some pics of three T-keys OVL's, OEM improved and OEM original. The OEM original had a much larger hex key(or what ever you ...

Re: Overland Lifts ???
Hey guys, The keys I received are 2.125" and our/ my '03 torsion bars are 1.5". It was a mix up on their part. It seems to me that our lifts are shipped directly from a few different sources. Instead of one warehouse stocked with parts. Definitely check your keys before removing the old on...
