Rear heat pipes

The rear heat pipes from the engine to the core for my '03 have rotted out and I've recently come to learn that the part had been discontinued by GM. Third party manufacturing would seem to be equally unhelpful. Anybody have any suggestions on where to source these or have they joined the ranks of t...

Re: 10 years of ASV

I'm still here.

Up to 180k miles on this one.

I never did get to attend a NECO.

I've sometimes wondered what happened to some of the old crew. Dumb Lady, Logan, Fire Cakes, Peter, Gary, LockDoc, Dean (Lifted)...

Ten years, already?

I'd like to know the vendor, make & model as well.

This could be a great addition for a van & camper! :bounce:

03 AWD Rear Axle Assembly

So the pumpkin on my ride has decided to commit harikari. )>) Lots and lots of metal pieces that don't belong on the magnet were found. I'm now in the market for a new rear assembly. Does anyone have any recommendations on who to talk to for a reasonable deal? Or, equally as important, who to avoid?...

Re: 2003 out of Ideas PLEASE HELP

If the distributor really was bad I'm wondering if the gear didn't skip and screw up your timing. You could pull it, set the engine back to #1 at TDC and reinstall. Were the distributor cap & rotor replaced? Age of the plugs & wires? Is the cat clear? Just some thoughts that came to me in 5 ...

Re: No start - multiple codes

I'm fighting the P1626 code, myself. Lacking the time, I took my 03 to a garage I trust to get it figured out. They replaced the PassLock sensor in the ignition, it started fine for a week, then throws the code again. It's back at the garage now, waiting for the next diagnosis. I fear it could be th...

Check the distributor. My gear was worn and it was causing me some significant issues.

I thought Larry (Rebel) did it years ago.

Do a member search for Rebel.

His most-active topic was Rack & Pinion Install.

See if that works for you.

Re: 2003 AWD left front wheel bearing stuck in knuckle

A friend of mine made a "bearing buster" that hooked over the side of the bearing. We hit the arm with me standing on the edge and that didn't help at all. The solution we used was to take a 20 ton bottle jack, place a board under the jack, wrap a chain over the top of the casting and unde...

Re: '05 AWD Astro Running Rough

My '03 is now at 171k. I've had to replace the plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor. I was still misfiring some time later, come to find out the distributor itself was worn out and needed replacing. I was getting some catalyst codes also. Replaced some oxygen sensors, cleared the codes and never rec...

Re: Back in the day......

Gary, It's funny that you bring this up. I was just thinking about these the other day and how I never made it to one when the old site, and this one, were in full-swing. I don't recall where the NECO's were held but I think it was the distance that killed it for me. The pics and stories were quite ...
