Re: Speedometer No longer works HELP

Wow! What a year so far. Wanted to update on my 04 Astro's status. Status is---the same. After I hurt my arm, we had area tornados Memorial Day weekend. Noting major. End of June, lost a very large tree. July, Car accident (not the Astro), and daily driver broken (again, not the Astro). Finally Star...

Re: Speedometer No longer works HELP

I have been out since my last post. I hurt myself and ended up in the ER and light duty for a couple of weeks. No further advancement on my Astro van. I will further diagnose it and update you guys during the week (I hope). I have yet to upload the squeak video to youtube. It's strange. The motor mo...

Re: Speedometer No longer works HELP

Sooo.....after repairing the exposed wires on the bank 1 sensor 1 O2 sensor, I took it for a drive. It seemed to work fairly well, but had trouble from 1st to 2nd gear. Drive it quite a bit. WOT to shift or very light throttle would also make it shift. That tells me the throttle position has an impa...

Re: Speedometer No longer works HELP

Thank you timlessbeing. I certainly appreciate your support and help! I tried to review as much as I could while under my van (I love my van). I found a Bank 1 Sensor 1 (front driver's side) O2 sensor with two wires rubbed through. I separated and insulated them. I found the source of a gasoline sme...

Re: Speedometer No longer works HELP

Cleared my codes and went for a drive. 1st gear only in D. I can manually shift into 2nd. If I return it to D, the trans has no gear. Absolutely no speedometer now. Re-read codes and get only C0265 which is an EBCM "No signal".

Re: Pulley / Belt change?

I took a short video (sound) this morning of my mystery squeak. Not sure how to upload it though. Van was cold. Squeak was present from startup. I will check the power steering pump bolts and motor mounts this weekend, if I can, and post an update.

Re: Speedometer No longer works HELP

I was correct. I had replaced the incorrect sensor. I replaced the driver's side rear sensor (VSS) this morning. Short test drive = ABS light turned off. BRAKE light turned off. SES light came on. Everything seemed to operate as it should. after less than 3 minutes, the ABS and BRAKE lights both tur...

Re: Speedometer No longer works HELP

Interesting. I'll see what I can find. I appreciate the breakdown. Yes, it will sqeak (under a load = WOT rev from idle) with the wheels not moving. The squeak seems to be coming from the lower side of the engine or transmission. I cannot locate it. It generally lessens or goes away after a good war...

Re: Pulley / Belt change?

I'll check my power steering pump bolts. My mystery squeak is elusive. New Belt, idler, tensioner and pulley. New water pump and fan clutch. It squeaks under load when driving or when in park and revving the engine. 240,000 miles. Original alternator and power steering pump. The squeak is present wi...

Re: Speedometer No longer works HELP

Here's an update. New wiring harness for the ignition switch. Van drove well for about 2 hours. Then....erratic speedo and funny shifting between 3rd & 4th. Different troubles than before. Also, it had developed a mystery squeak. This occurred at a low RPM and only in forward gear to begin. Just whe...

Re: Speedometer No longer works HELP

So, installed a VSS (transmission) and no change. Jiggled the wires (cannot remember which ones supply the 5 volts to the trans ... maybe pink? white?) and suddenly everything works. I originally had an ABS, brake, and check engine lights on. These were all also off. Yay! Until....I used my turn sig...

Re: Speedometer No longer works HELP

It has been a long while and I apologize for not getting back to you all. Life gets in the way of life, sometimes. The repair for this trouble that i had encountered was to replace the ignition switch harness in the steering column. This cured all of my woes. The harness controls (+5 volts?) the vol...

Re: Right front brake system leak

Great posts you guys. My Wife just popped the front line on my 2000 the other day. Rusted dead center of the front end. I've been really reluctant to get started on this as it looks like the radiator out. If I understand correctly, I don't have to remove it and if I remove the front bumper cover, it...
