Re: anyone have front diff problems after 4x4 swap
I remember someone said that after they swapped the 4x4 transfer in the front end didn't like it and it caused problems at highway speeds or something. Maybe it was when turning? I really don't remember the details.

anyone have front diff problems after 4x4 swap
I remember reading somewhere that some had issues with the front differential after swapping in a 4x4 transfer case. Anyone care to discuss this and what you did to fix it? What was the cause etc. Thanks , Mark

Re: flat towing 3100 miles
I found out I can't use a tow bar as most states require brakes on the towed vehicle if its over 3000 bs. the system is very expensive to say the least. Tow dolly it is then.

flat towing 3100 miles
So I wish to use a tow bar to tow my van with driveshafts removed from Norcal to New Hampshire. I have a 97 ford e350 with 10 cylinder to tow it with. Just curious if anyone has ever done this and if you have any advice feel free to give it to me. Max speed while towing will be 55 mph at the very mo...

Re: Montana Newbie Needs Advice on New Engine, Torque Converter, Cam, & 4x4 vs AWD
The original roof racks on these were put on with rivnuts. You can buy the inserts on amazon then the tool there too. I bought the tool then found a site that sells the inserts cheaper then amazon and they are stainless steel. Then I took the rivnut insert to the local hardware store and bought stai...

Re: rear bumper idea.
I found out the silverado bumpers well at least the rear fit much better then the express bumper. To answer your question yeah I have lower back issues from being Army Airborne as well as one bad knee. My van is an 89 RS I am building up a 98 AWD frame as we speak. Goal is to make it so I can drive ...

rear bumper idea.
I was driving down a road today and saw a chevy express with this bumper on it, and I thought wow that would be great on an astro/safari with the step to get stuff off or on the roof rack. So I came home found a picture checked the width of both our vans and the express vans and its les then 2 inche...

Re: looking for info for 1st gen AWD to 4x4 swap
OK so Thanks to Capt.crunch I finally found the info I was looking for: To do the swap I need the front frame from an AWD Astro/Safari which I got from a 98 I bought for 400 cash. I will need a NP231C and the rear drive shaft from the 98 but I will also need to get a front drive shaft from a 99 to 2...

Re: looking for info for 1st gen AWD to 4x4 swap
Well from my searching I found this site: http://old.drivetrain.com/parts_catalog ... #S10BLAZER
Form it I believe I will need to buy at least the front drive shaft from a 99 to 2004 AWD Astro to use the NP231C transfer case on my build.

Re: looking for info for 1st gen AWD to 4x4 swap
what year and what did it come from on the 231 you used? I went to pnp today and only found 95 up S-10's so when I climbed under a few they had a driveshaft on the front that was I believe in a sleeve type whereas my 98 has a bolt in type front shaft. is this something that can be changed?

Re: looking for info for 1st gen AWD to 4x4 swap
I would like to go with a 231HD or C version but I have no idea which drive shafts I will need or do I need to change any thing to make it work. I know they put the 231 in the S-10 but that's about all I know. My 350 puts out about 330 ho at the flywheel but I do not plan on racing or beating this v...

Hello I have been building /modifying my 89 Astro RS for a long time. Well its 98% done and I decided to buy a 98 AWD with a bad transmission for 400 cash recently and after going through it I then decided to use the frame to build it up to put under my 89 with the 350 and 700R4. so I need to know s...
