Re: P0302 Code and misfire - Not spark...What next

After chasing down compression, Injectors etc... it turned out to be a bad plug wire. They were 1000mi old so was not my first thought. Oh well. Live and learn. At least an easy fix.

P0302 Code and misfire - Not spark...What next

Drove the van 80 miles out and back on the weekend on the freeway without issue. Ran fine and got decent MPGs. Parked it on Sunday and when I started it up yesterday it immediately fired off the P0302 code and has very rough idle. Miss continues throughout the RPM range. Pulled the plug wire on #2 a...

Re: Front end rebuild...am I crazy?

Well THAT was a royal biotch of a job. Yesterday I pulled both upper and lower control arms. Installed new Moog bushings and ball joints in the uppers. Flipped the BJs on the uppers. Gave up on bushings for the lower control arms and just bought new ones. At about $65 each it was a no-brainer. After...

Re: Journeys Off Road has a 3-5" lift kit with 3" pucks and long

Old post...I know...But, I just wrapped up a JOR 4-7" lift kit install. Couldn't have been easier or more well made. Instructions were great and Mike was always available to answer my questions by phone. Just wanted to give a shout out to JOR for a great experience. h5Ou5gimQN+kat02AWu0nw.jpg

Re: Front end rebuild...am I crazy?

Nothing too exciting photo wise, but I will post up a pic of my very simple but functional torsion key tool. While i did weld a little on it, the design is simple enough that anyone could make it with basic hand tools.

Will definitely post up photos of the final product.

Re: Engine Cover Removal Procedure (Shown with 2003 Astro)

Thanks for the post!! First time pulling the doghouse to do rotor and cap. Had the whole thing out in about 7 minutes. Would have taken a lot longer if I had to figure it out from scratch!!

Re: Front end rebuild...am I crazy?

Update... Yep, just placed the RockAuto order. :-) I built a tool for the torsion keys. Was super easy to unload them and get them out. NOTHING on this van is corroded or seized up. Sooo fortunate for that. It was pretty easy to get the upper control arm bushings jigged up in the press and pop them ...

Re: Front end rebuild...am I crazy?

I did consider the pre-assembled control arms...but I really hate to waste functional parts by just tossing them. Also just buying bushings saves a almost $300 so I'm gonna go for it. Having a hydraulic press will 'hopefully' make it possible.

Front end rebuild...am I crazy?

Parts are on the way to do a complete front end rebuild. Will include pulling upper and lower control arms for new bushings and ball joints, wheel bearing/hubs, and steering components. How brutal will the bushing swaps be? I've got a 20 ton press so hoping not too bad?? Also, having never removed t...

Re: New Guy

Thanks Astrozam, I’m from jersey and have an intimate knowledge of how salt kills cars. This safari spent her life in the SoCal desert and is super clean underneath with just some paint peeling around the tranny pumpkin. Gonna spray the underside with lanolin to keep it that way. Yay, another new g...
