Tranny issues, would like opinions

Hello, I'm having transmission issues, slippage mostly, I was hoping to get expert opinions and suggestions. - 2004 2wd, 4.3L passenger van. 130+k. -Van slips in OD, not all the time, so kind of confusing, but most of the time. -slips shifting to OD from third if not babied. -slips from 2-3rd, again...

Re: AC Gremlins

Wow, I was researching a/c problems and solutions to diagnose my own a/c problems. I came across your question here and felt bad that no one responded to your plea. So, what did you end up figuring out was the problem with your a/c system?

Re: Oh boy, engine won't rev.

Alrighty then, I figured out how to use the live data on the Bluedriver. - MAP: 6.7 at idle to 10.9 psi at 2200 rpm. (All data, first number is at idle, 600 rpm, second number is at 2200 rpm, the most I can coax out of the engine). - MAF: 0.9 TO 5.1 LB/MIN. - ENGINE LOAD: 3.5 TO 22.5 % - TIMING ADV....

Re: Oh boy, engine won't rev.

Well, I picked up a Bluedriver bluetooth scan plug-in devise. The codes that can up was a P0101. Suggestions were- -vacuum leak -PCV valve leak or stuck open. (this was a easy check and the PCV valve has no 'valve' in it whatsoever, I tried plugging the valve cover port with a rag to see it made any...

Re: 2004 engine cover removal?

Hey, a late thanks for your reply, I didn't realise that my email notifications was turned off. So, you have to remove the passenger seat, that seems like an asinine design for a vehicle that's been in production this long, jeez...

Re: Oh boy, engine won't rev.

Hi, thanks for the response. In the OP I mention that it was an 04 astro. Further than that, it is a window van, duel ac, 4.3L, 127K, power locks/windows and cruise control. I bought the van 1 year ago at an auction. It was previously owned by a municipality and assumed that it was likely well maint...

Re: Oh boy, engine won't rev.

Update, this evening I started her up again and went around the block. - does start. - in either park or neutral, it will rev, but then stumbles on the way down to idle and takes maybe 10 sec. to even out. -in drive with foot on the brake and applying some gas, well it just feels like she's fighting...

Oh boy, engine won't rev.

Well, I might have really did it! Last night, driving home crossing over a surface road, I had my '04 astro in cruise control. As I went up the relatively unassuming overpass, about have way up, the tranny kicked down to what I thought was 2nd gear and not 3rd. The motor rpm's went way high for many...

2004 engine cover removal?

O.K., this seems silly, but I cannot get the darn engine cover out of the way on my 2004 Astro van. I can get the whole thing loose and move it side to side, but it will not fit out between the seats and the dash, and yes, I have the seats all the way back. What the heck am I missing here. ](*,)

Re: Help please, power steering pump pulley install

Hey, update, a friend recommended using a strap wrench on the pulley to assist with center bolt/wrench to prevent the pulley from turning. Well, it kind of worked. I was able to continue pressing on the pulley to less than 1/8" to go. It took two two ft. breaker bars, one on each wrench and the...

Help please, power steering pump pulley install

Hey gents, I have a dilemma. I am currently doing power steering work and I can't get the pulley all the way back on. I have about 1/4" more to go, at this point the pulley starts turning as I turn the large nut on the installer. With this rotation, clockwise of the nut it means that center bol...

Re: filter for power steering system

I am Installing the filter because the manufacturers of the pump require it inorder for the warranty to be in effect. I here what your saying about the closed system. I am replacing all the lines because the fluid is pretty dirty. If I place a drop of fluid on a napkin it does look that bad, but if ...
