Re: HELP! Disaster of a day trying to r/r left front CV sha

OK, Herbie, I know it's been 5 years since your post but how did you finally get it back in? I find myself in the same position with a left/front half shaft that came out with the stubby shaft attached. The story of I came to this point is long and embarrassing so I won't elaborate.

Re: 2018 gatherings planned Puget Sound (WA) area?

Hey guys, I am planning on going to NW Overlanding rally in Plain WA 06/28-07/01 2018. If you are into Overlanding like I am about to be it could be a good place for ideas as far as configuring and outfitting your rig. I would be willing to meet other ASV members and caravan out there. http://www.nw...

Re: Looking for some suggestions on a muffler

Hi guys. I am more concerned about back pressure but want quiet and stealthy. I like the idea of double mufflers, but I have read that glass packs increase back pressure. Maybe two Magna Flows in tandem? Could be pricey? My ideal set up, cost be damned, would be Headers, high-performance Cat, Muffle...

Re: Grill Guard

Welcome to the forum. As far as a grille guard it's finding something that you can make fit. I am currently planning to adapt a Hummer H3 OEM front bumper, and a Landrover discovery OEM Grille guard, adding a custom brush guard. I usually go to Pinterest and youtube along with web searches for what ...

Re: Covering Rear Windows for Camping

I just got a roll of Reflectix reflective bubble insulation, cut to fit each window. Make sure its a tight fit. I don't need any hook and loop at the moment, just press in to fit and mine stay up. Although my front windows will need hook and loop. For the windshield I use a vehicle specific sun shad...

Re: Anyone have beds in your van?

This is how I did it. Stripped down a full size conversion van bed (Which I got free) and my buddy built a wood support system, and we added seat belts. Not the most secure for carrying passengers, but it will do in a pinch.

Re: Got headers finally !

Hi guys. I would like to get input on a couple of exhaust issues. First, what would prevent us from finding a a pair of used V8 headers, and cutting off the appropriate down pipe, and welding up the opening to the collector? Second, i have heard different views on what is the appropriate exhaust sys...

Re: change engine

Thank you guys. I really haven't looked into the V8 swap, or for that matter performance/fuel mileage improvements to the 4.3. It just occurred to me as to what would a newer 6 speed auto transmission do for mileage? In any case I will press on with my research. I will post any revelations I come up...

Re: change engine

That is true, and I am looking into that too. Problem is I'm only getting 13 mpg combined right now. Well you know I am pretty shrude and persistence leads me to some pretty good deals. The prospect of getting double the fuel mileage is very tempting, and having an extra 5 to 12 gallons of diesel wo...

Re: change engine

I have been researching a diesel swap for my 2001 Safari. The ultimate would be the new Cummins R2.8 crate engine, the first of a new series of crate engines with everything you need to install it. The "kit" includes electronics and wiring. You can view these engines on youtube. The catch ...
